'Teen Mom OG' Stars: Where Are They Now?

It’s been quite a journey for the cast of Teen Mom. The series launched in December 2009 as the first spinoff from MTV’s 16 and Pregnant. The debut season followed the lives of Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell, Amber Portwood and Farrah Abraham, who all experienced very different journeys during their teen pregnancies.

On season 5, the show was rebranded as Teen Mom OG, as multiple other spinoffs with other 16 and Pregnant cast members began — in 2011, Teen Mom 2 launched; Teen Mom 3 debuted in 2013; and Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant and Teen Mom: Young Moms Club both premiered in 2018.

After many seasons of drama behind the scenes, Abraham was fired from the show in October 2017 after a confrontation with executive producer Morgan J. Freeman. At the time, Freeman told her that if she wanted to continue her adult entertainment career, she would not be able to star on the reality show.

“I wish them all the best with the show. I’m out on a high note. This is the longest season in history and I’m their biggest star,” Abraham exclusively told Us Weekly in February 2018. “I can do my own show, but I don’t want to focus on reality TV. I’m focusing on scripted opportunities but will always enjoy a good reality TV project.”

She added: “I don’t know what the show is doing. You could take all the girls on all the series, but none can bring or do as much as I do for the series.”

In July 2018, Bristol Palin was cast on the series, replacing Abraham. However, after one season, she chose to exit in April 2019.

“Teen mom OG wasn’t a fit for me,” Palin explained via Instagram at the time. “It took away my peace.. and honestly – my peace has a price tag that no one but God can afford $ doesn’t impress me, I don’t entertain bs, and walking away from this show allows God to rebuild me (and my little fam) in the right direction. I have love for all the girls on the show, and wish them the best of luck in all their future endeavors!! xoxo, B.”

Are You the One? alum Cheyenne Floyd joined the series in September 2018. In August 2019, the cast grew again, bringing on Mackenzie Douthit from Teen Mom 3 as a guest mom. During the second half of season 8, she was promoted to a main cast member.

Catelynn Lowell
In 2009, Lowell and her high school sweetheart, Tyler Baltierra, welcomed daughter Carly in front of the MTV cameras. The couple made the challenging decision to place their little girl for adoption. Later, the pair married in 2015 and their family quickly grew. They welcomed daughter Novalee Reign in January 2015 and daughter Vaeda Luma in February 2019. Lowell has been open with her mental health struggles over the years and has entered treatment multiple times to deal with her childhood traumas and to help her handle the pain of suffering a miscarriage. Lowell announced in February 2021 that she and Baltierra, who renewed their vows in September 2019, are expecting their fourth child.

Amber Portwood
In 2008, Portwood and then-fiancé Gary Shirley welcomed their daughter, Leah. The pair separated and Shirley gained full custody of Leah in 2011. Over the years, Portwood suffered from substance abuse and anger management issues. She was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In May 2018, she welcomed a son, James Andrew Glennon, with then-boyfriend Andrew Glennon. She and Andrew split in 2019. After a nasty fight, she was arrested for domestic battery. She received one felony charge for the incident and one year of probation. Us confirmed in January 2020 that Portwood was dating Dimitri Garcia. She was granted a restraining order against Glennon in January 2021 over a custody issue.

Bookout welcomed son Bentley with then-fiancé Ryan Edwards in 2008. She later split from Edwards and married Taylor McKinney in 2016. The couple welcomed a daughter, Jayde Carter, in 2015, and a son, Maverick Reed, in 2016. Bookout experienced many ups and downs in her relationship with Edwards, who has been in and out of rehab for drug abuse, since their split. After he reportedly left threatening voicemails, Bookout and McKinney filed a mutual restraining order against him in 2018. The couple currently run their own clothing brand, TTM – Things That Matter. Edwards’ wife, Mackenzie Edwards, claimed in March 2021 that Bookout got her ex and his family fired from Teen Mom OG.

After starring on season 3 of Are You the One?, Floyd appeared on The Challenge: Rivals III. The reality TV personality met Cory Wharton on the series in 2016, and the duo shocked fans in December 2017 when they revealed they share a daughter, Ryder. Floyd and Wharton launched Rage Regardless Ry, a nonprofit that supports families raising children living with metabolic conditions. Ryder was born with VLCAD, a condition in which the body is unable to properly break down certain fats into energy. Floyd announced in December 2020 that she and boyfriend Zach Davis are expecting their first child together. The couple got engaged at her April 2021 baby shower and welcomed their first child together, son Ace Terrell, the following month. They wed in September 2022.
